What is Audius?
Audius is a blockchain-based music streaming service designed to give artists greater control over their content and revenue streams. Founded in 2018, Audius aims to address issues in the traditional music industry by providing artists with tools to distribute and monetize their music directly, bypassing intermediaries. The platform combines social media features with decentralized technology, enabling artists to connect closely with fans and manage their content independently.
Initially built on the Ethereum-based POA Network, Audius has transitioned parts of its infrastructure to the Solana blockchain to improve scalability. It leverages a decentralized network of content and discovery nodes to host and index the music, ensuring the immutability of records and uninterrupted service.
