Overview
Cool Cats is a series of 9,999 NFTs depicting blue cat characters, each with distinct attributes such as bodies, faces, and accessories. The collection was launched on July 1, 2021, with an initial mint price of 0.06 ETH, which was later reduced to 0.02 ETH to encourage sales. The project quickly gained popularity, reaching the #3 spot in terms of sales volume on OpenSea shortly after its release.
Founding Team
The project was created by four individuals:
- Colin Egan (Clon): Illustrator and originator of the Blue Cat character.
- Tom Williamson (xtremetom): Blockchain and smart contract expert.
- Rob Mehew (Lynqoid): Web developer and manager.
- Evan Luza (ELU): Creative director.
Colin Egan had been developing the Blue Cat character for years before the project’s launch, perfecting its design to achieve its final form.
Ecosystem and Developments
The Cool Cats universe, known as Cooltopia, has expanded to include several initiatives:
