Pudgy Rods, also known as “rogs,” are a series of 7,399 NFTs that serve as a complementary collection to the original Pudgy Penguins. Each Pudgy Rod features unique traits, contributing to their distinct identities within the collection.
Release and Revelation
On August 30, 2021, the Pudgy Penguins team released “Pudgy Presents” as free-to-claim NFTs, one for each Pudgy Penguin held. These presents appeared as eggs wrapped in red ribbons, with their contents kept a surprise. After months of anticipation, on December 25, 2021, the presents were revealed to contain fishing rods. The developers misspelled “rods” as “rogs,” a term that has since been embraced by the community.
Role in the Ecosystem
Pudgy Rods are integral to the Pudgy Penguins lore and are expected to amplify what Penguins can “catch” within the ecosystem. When paired with a Pudgy Penguin or a Lil Pudgy, the rod’s true power is intended to come into effect, suggesting potential future utility in upcoming projects or initiatives. The first implementation of this utility was planned for Q2 with Project Overpass.

As of December 2024, Pudgy Rods have a floor price of approximately 1.59 ETH, with a 24-hour trading volume of 231.47 ETH across 169 sales. The collection is held by 2,870 unique owners, indicating a strong and engaged community.
