Campaigns & Contributions
SparkIBC focuses on projects and efforts that are chain-agnostic or truly multichain, ensuring that the “Interchain” vision we’ve been promised for so long can finally become a reality. For projects that fit this vision, SparkIBC runs campaigns where users, communities, and organizations can contribute to said project. Projects can choose to run their campaigns either as charity-based initiatives, where all contributions are purely donations, or as investment opportunities, where contributors receive rewards upon the project’s successful launch. This flexible approach allows projects to gather the necessary resources for their development while encouraging community participation and support. These campaigns can either run indefinitely, as is the case for Patreon-style campaigns and ongoing public goods projects, such as Interchain Info, or with set time limits on them like traditional launchpad platforms and crowdfunding efforts.
To discuss spinning up a campaign, for things big or small, get in touch with us on any of our public channels. Discord, Twitter, our email, and more can be found in the links on this page, next to our logo at the top.
Fundraising and Spark Points
Spark IBC offers a unique incentive system through the use of Spark Points, also known as $SPARK tokens, which are non-transferable tokens native to every blockchain where SparkIBC is deployed. For every 1 USD equivalent contributed through the platform, users are awarded 1 Spark Point. These Spark Points not only serve as a measure of a user’s contributions to the Cosmos and beyond, but also to unlock various small, quality of life and aesthetic features across the suite of Spark products, including Interchain Info.
To showcase the contributions of users and encourage healthy competition within the community, Spark IBC maintains a leaderboard on its website. The leaderboard displays all wallets that have contributed, and their corresponding amount of Spark Points. It categorizes contributors into three groups: private users, organizations, and validators. By offering Spark Points and maintaining a leaderboard, Spark IBC fosters a sense of community and engagement, driving users to actively participate in and support the projects they believe in. They also hope that in the future, Spark Points can help delegates to chose a validator that have given back to the ecosystem in a measurable way.
Upcoming Features: Outposts, Croncats, and Chain Abstraction
Outposts:
Spark IBC plans to launch “Outposts” on various chains in addition to Juno. These outposts will act identically to the Juno deployment, where users can contribute to any active campaign, and earn Spark Points for doing so. This update will have tight synergy with our plans for chain abstraction, using protocols such as Rango Exchange, enhancing the usability of the entire Spark IBC system.
Chain Abstraction:
Just like the projects we aim to help fund, Spark IBC believes in the full Interchain vision, where users don’t even need to think about what chain their “on” for most things. To achieve this with the SparkIBC platform, we will be focusing on two major updates, Spark Outposts, as outlined above, and the integration of protocols such as Rango exchange and Squid Router. These protocols aggregate bridges and DEXs across a wide array of chains, combining these with out outpost, we intend to let users point to basically any asset they hold on any chain and them contribute to campaigns with it directly. Under the hood, these protocols will handle finding the most efficient route to get that asset into a stablecoin, and onto any of the chains where SparkIBC is deployed.
CronCats Integration & Creator Support:
In partnership with CronCats, a Cosmos project specializing in automating web3 tasks, Spark IBC plans to enable users to set up recurring, automatic donations for their favorite campaigns, further enhancing the platform’s Patreon-like capabilities. In addition to this, we plan to quickly scale up the amount of campaigns like this that we’re running. Anyone who creates educational content about Web3 is highly encouraged to get in touch with us about spinning up a campaign. Stop letting YouTube and Twitch take 80% of your revenue, if they even let you get any at all!
