Overview of the TIA Airdrop
Celestia’s TIA airdrop is set to distribute a total of 60 million TIA tokens across various categories of eligible participants. The overarching goal is to reward contributors to public goods, early adopters of Ethereum rollups, and stakers and IBC relayers on the Cosmos Hub and Osmosis.
Research and Public Goods:
20 Million TIA
This category targets public GitHub contributors to key protocol infrastructures like Ethereum, rollups, Bitcoin, and Cosmos. It also includes contributors to Ethereum and Bitcoin Improvement Proposals and those who have actively participated in Eth Research.
Early Modular Ecosystem:
20 Million TIA
Eligibility here is extended to public GitHub contributors associated with Modular Summits and Celestia’s recent ecosystem map. The first cohort of Modular Fellows is also included.
Early Adopters of Ethereum Rollups:
20 Million TIA
This category is reserved for the top 50% of active users of the top 10 rollups by TVL on L2 Beat.
Zooming into Cosmos Hub and Osmosis
A significant portion of the TIA airdrop, amounting to 20 million TIA, is dedicated to stakers and IBC relayers on Cosmos Hub and Osmosis.
- Stakers (18.5 Million TIA): The allocation for stakers is based on a combination of stake and on-chain activity. The activity score, adapted from Trusta Labs’ MEDIA framework, takes into account various on-chain behaviors such as IBC transactions, the recency of the last transaction, and more. The allocation is further broken down as follows:
- Top 10% based on stake x activity score: 3.25 million TIA
- Top 50% based on stake x activity score: 9.25 million TIA
- Remaining 50% based on stake x activity score: 6 million TIA
- IBC Relayers (1.5 Million TIA): IBC relayers, often referred to as the unsung heroes of the Interchain, play a crucial role in ensuring interoperability. The eligibility for IBC relayers is based on addresses making MsgRecvPacket transactions on-chain before a specific snapshot date.
Distribution
On October 18th, Celestia team distributed all of 60 Million TIA to those that have participated and registered for the Genesis Drop. There were a total of 191,391 claims. Due to some TIA being left unclaimed those that did register almost tripled their initial allocation.
Airdrop
On October 31st, Celestia mainnet went live, and with it anybody that registered for the Genesis Drop received the allocated TIA. There is no claim necessary as the TIA is in your wallet. Simply visit Celesita on Kepler Wallet and add Celestia chain to see your balance.
