Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency that operates outside of traditional banking systems. Bitcoin was introduced in 2009 as an alternative to traditional money, offering benefits like anonymity and lower transaction fees and is noted for its volatility.
What are ORDINALS?
The ORDINALS PROTOCOL allows for unique assets to be created, or inscribed, on BITCOIN. These INSCRIPTIONS are permanently recorded on the blockchain, ensuring enhanced security and immutability. These assets can act like NFTs and other times like FUNGIBLE TOKENS. Originally, BRC-20 TOKENS were created, including $ORDI and many others. Ordinals embed data directly onto individual SATOSHIS.
What are BITCOIN RUNES?
A protocol for creating fungible tokens, or tokens that can be replaced by an identical item. Runes was created by Casey Rodarmor, the same developer behind the Ordinals protocol, and launched in April 2024. Runes is designed to be more efficient and less expensive than the BRC-20 token standard, which was created by another Bitcoin developer using the Ordinals protocol as a base.
How to buy RUNES?
Runes can be purchased on MAGIC EDEN and other marketplaces using a BITCOIN WALLET such as Leather or Xverse. Since there are no Bitcoin AMMs or DEXes, Runes are bought and sold in lots. Lots can be broken up into smaller lots to make transacting easier and improve liquidity.
