Introduction to the Shielded Expedition:
Namada introduces the Shielded Expedition, a massively multiplayer role-playing incentivized testnet. Starting from a humble group of 11 validators in January 2023, the Namada validator community has now grown to hundreds, paving the way for this ambitious testnet. Below we’ll give you a quick registration guide before going into more details:

Participation in the Shielded Expedition:
Participants can join as either Pilots (validators) or Crew Members (users). The expedition involves a competitive asteroid mining race where asteroids are mined for ROID points. The leaderboard, known as the Nebb, ranks participants in real-time based on their accumulated ROID. Pilots can join forces with other Pilots, Crew Members can join other Crew Members, become Pilots – or any combinations or permutations of the above.
Airdrop Allocation:
The Anoma Foundation will distribute 30 million $NAM (3% of total supply) to winners in the Namada genesis block proposal.
How to Get Involved:
To join and be eligible for prizes, participants must register through the provided forms for Pilots and Crew Members. Registration is open until 9am UTC on Tuesday, 2nd January 2024.

Pilots and Crew Members who do not register on time can still participate in the Shielded Expedition post-genesis, but will not rank on the Nebb and will not be eligible for competition prizes.
100 validators will be selected as pre-genesis Pilots by members of the Anoma Foundation, Heliax, and Knowable. All other registered pilots’ accounts will be included in the genesis block proposal for the Shielded Expedition and can become validators post-genesis.
Token for the Expedition:
NAAN, the native testnet currency, is needed as fuel for participating in the asteroid mining race. Participants who register pre-genesis will receive NAAN in the genesis block, while others can obtain it from the testnet faucet.
Timeline and Phases:
- Phase 0 (Registration): Ends 9am UTC, 2nd January 2024.
- Phase 1 (Preparation): Research and strategize for optimal ROID accrual.
- Phase 2 (Pre-Genesis): Genesis file published on 8th January 2024; Pilots to bond stake by 11th January 2024.
- Phase 3 (Genesis Launch): Proposed by Anoma Foundation on 12th January 2024; set for 16th January 2024.
- Phase 4 (Expedition): Lasts 14 to 21 days from genesis; the final Nebb ranking becomes a permanent record.
- Phase X (Ending): Unpredictable conclusion to the expedition.
