In this video, I discuss an important lesson in crypto self-custody: There is no way to reset a PIN on a hardware wallet. If you forget your PIN and your device resets to factory settings, you must restore your wallet using your 12 or 24-word backup phrase. 🔑
I also talk about how Ledger Live does not have a password reset feature, so if you forget your Ledger Live password, the only way to regain access is to reinstall the software and set up your wallet again from scratch.
It’s crucial to understand that crypto self-custody is a personal responsibility. If you forget your PIN or password, it’s on you—not the hardware wallet or software. While I understand frustrations, I don’t have much sympathy for those who blame the companies when it’s ultimately their responsibility to keep track of their credentials.
