SEDA’s Modular Data Layer, The Ethereum For Oracles

SEDA’s Modular Data Layer, The Ethereum For Oracles

BY Seda ProtocolMay 17 · 4 min read

CTO of SEDA, Jasper De Gooijer, took the stage at ETHDenver 2024 on Thursday, the 29th of February, discussing how SEDA is building the Ethereum of Oracles. SEDA is building permissionless data infrastructure that provides the foundations for developers to build an infinite range of customized data products on top of the network. This is critical in understanding how the SEDA network acts as the Ethereum of Oracles. On stage, Jasper spoke about the current pivotal moment in Web3 as we transition away from the age of fragmentation into a new era of hyperspecialization. Jasper highlighted that SEDA is a layer that allows for the permissionless building of data products like Ethereum, which allows for the permissionless deployment of any smart contract by anyone.

SEDAs Modular Blockchain | A Data Layer

Evolving Beyond The Age of Fragmentation

Jasper initiated his ETHDenver discussion by stepping back through the blockchain infrastructure development journey. Starting from the original blockchain network, Bitcoin, Jasper shared how the blockchain industry is now ready to evolve from its latest era, the age of fragmentation. The age of fragmentation speaks to a Web3 world of monolithic blockchains that create a siloed and fragmented blockchain existence. Jasper recognized the need to move from monolithic designs into an interconnected, chain-abstracted, and intent-based blockchain environment, where users can interact with all of Web3 from a single entry point. As more app-specific blockchains are being built, the demand for modular and chain-abstracted execution environments is increasing alongside the need for Web3 users to have a more straightforward and single-familiar UI/UX.

SEDA Leads The New Age of Hyperspecialization

As it stands, Web3 is entering an era of hyperspecialization and chain abstraction powered by modularity and intents. Jasper spoke to the need for dedicated blockchains built to excel in one focus instead of servicing each step of a transaction’s journey. Hyperspezialisation allows blockchain developers to build higher quality chains specializing in one field, such as Celestia’s consensus DA chain or SEDA’s dedicated data access, transport, and configuration chain. Modular hyperspecialization results in infinite modular stack possibilities that can be combined for compelling and specific use cases or outputs to serve any imagined purpose.

Horizontally Scalable and day-one access to all features

SEDA, a 100% permissionless modular data layer design, drives new scaling possibilities. Dedicated to data access, transport, and configuration, SEDA’s modular design and chain abstraction enable mechanics to power horizontal scaling and developer access to all features from day one. As SEDA does not dictate data feeds, any developer can build the feed they need based on the data provisions available. Hyperspecialization, permissionless access, chain agnostic, and modular designs are the perfect combination for a new standard of scalability.

Why Is SEDA The Ethereum of Oracle Technology

Ethereum launched Web3 to new heights by allowing the deployment of any smart contract for any end user. This level of blockchain developer flexibility drove builders to develop a full range of dApps on top of Ethereum. As a dedicated modular data layer, SEDA allows builders to deploy any data feed they want. Any smart contract from any blockchain can interact with these data feeds. As a result, SEDA allows builders to develop permissionless data products on top of the SEDA chain, the same way Ethereum allows the deployment of any smart contract product.
