Bitcoin was the first ever digital currency that was designed to be decentralized, meaning no one person or entity controls it. This was accomplished by altering existing blockchain tech to be decentralized from the ground up. Despite it's simplicity relative to newer blockchain-based technologies, Bitcoin remains not only the largest Cryptocurrency by marketcap, but also boasts a large and rapidly growing ecosystem.
