When people think of Umee, they mainly think of the Umee blockchain, the lending & borrowing hub of the Cosmos. But we at Umee aim to build far more than just the Umee chain, as we believe that most Web3 products are at their best when tightly integrated with each other, and when designed with a coherent and aligned vision in mind.
That’s why we’re so thrilled to announce our third product, joining the ranks of Umee & Ojo, we bring you a wallet that does stuff a little differently. Tabu.
So what are we doing differently?
Well, we believe that your wallet should feel as complete as your mobile banking app, just without the whole “Not controlling your own money” thing.
This requires two things:
#1 Control over your own keys through an open source wallet.
This should be a given, but we think it’s still important to call out. While the open vs closed source debate is a contentious one, we believe that there should be no debate when it comes to wallets. Anything that gets to know, or access, your private key or seed phrase, needs to be open source. No discussion, please make sure you look into this before ever using a new wallet!
#2 An integrated & intuitive UX.
When you make a transfer in your mobile banking app, you aren’t redirected to the Swift or ACH websites, it just works in the app’s native UI.
Why should wallets be different when it comes to say, swaps or NFTs?
With Tabu, we’ll be working to integrate all your favorite protocols and chains right into the native interface. This means, let’s say you need to swap some tokens, rather than going to your Dapp browser, and loading up the Osmosis website like you would in any other browser, instead, you’ll just go to the “Swap” section of the wallet and handle it there. This expands well beyond just swaps however, as you’ll also be able to manage things like LP pools and NFTs right in the native interface.
At launch, Tabu will have a few major Cosmos protocols natively integrated, like Osmosis for swaps & LP management, & Stargaze to view your NFTs. But our V1 launch is only the beginning, and we plan to lean heavily into aggregation in the long term. This means the swap section will find the best prices between multiple DEXs, and that your NFT collection will show your holdings and all their stats from multiple chains & marketplaces.
