Chihuahua Token (HUAHUA)
Chihuahua’s native token, HUAHUA, is a meme coin designed for the Cosmos ecosystem. As a proof-of-stake coin, users can stake HUAHUA to participate in the network’s governance, such as voting on proposals, and receive rewards. The Chihuahua chain is connected to around 30 other Cosmos chains through the IBC protocol, allowing users to transfer assets and interact with other chains seamlessly.
Technical Information
Chihuahua uses the Cosmos SDK and Tendermint consensus, with HUAHUA as the native staking and governance asset. Users who stake HUAHUA participate in governance, voting on proposals, and accessing a Community Pool with over 10 billion HUAHUA tokens. The blockchain achieves interoperability through the IBC protocol, enabling swift transfers of HUAHUA assets across different chains.
Chihuahua’s open-source repositories are available on GitHub. The project maintains a variety of tools and resources, including:
- pyCosmicWrap
A Python3 wrapper around the Cosmos API/RPC, pyCosmicWrap enables developers to interact with the Cosmos ecosystem using Python. This library simplifies the process of querying blockchain data and performing transactions on Cosmos chains. More information can be found on the pyCosmicWrap GitHub repository.
- UpgradesWatchdog
The UpgradesWatchdog is a tool for monitoring software upgrade proposals and GitHub releases for Cosmos blockchains. Users can add chains they want to follow by modifying the chain_data.json file and submitting a pull request. This collaborative effort makes it easier to keep track of important updates within the Cosmos ecosystem.
Chihuahua Academy
The Chihuahua Academy, hosted on the project’s official website, aims to introduce people to the Cosmos environment and provide them with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and interact with the ecosystem. The academy offers a range of lessons and courses covering topics such as the Cosmos-SDK, blockchain technology, and the principles of decentralized finance.
Environmental Impact
Chihuahua’s yearly energy consumption is significantly lower than the daily energy usage of other popular blockchains like Dogecoin and Ethereum, highlighting its eco-friendly nature.
Governance and Tokenomics
Chihuahua features an on-chain governance system, where HUAHUA holders vote on proposals on a one-to-one token basis. Delegating HUAHUA to one of the 125 active validators strengthens the network’s security and provides staking rewards of approximately 40% per year. The Chihuahua CommunityDAO significantly contributes to the community’s growth and awareness through various activities, such as community management and organizing AMAs, potentially impacting the token’s emission rate and price.
Chihuahua Chain in the Cosmos Ecosystem
As part of the Cosmos ecosystem, Chihuahua leverages the IBC protocol to enable seamless interaction between different blockchains. IBC was developed by Cosmos and the Interchain Foundation, and has since become one of the largest interoperability ecosystems in the world. Chihuahua’s integration with IBC allows it to communicate with other Cosmos chains, facilitating asset transfers and cross-chain interactions.
Chihuahua CommunityDAO
The Chihuahua CommunityDAO plays a crucial role in the development and success of the Chihuahua chain. It contributes to the growth and awareness of the project through various activities, such as community management, organizing Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions, and providing informative content. More information about the CommunityDAO’s activities can be found on Chihuahua’s Omniflix page.
Media & Community Engagement
Chihuahua Blockchain maintains a Medium blog where it shares updates and news about the project. The blog covers topics such as mainnet launches, IBC connections, and other developments within the Cosmos ecosystem. In addition there are several social media channels such as Twitter and Telegram, links can be found in the linktree at the top of this page.
History
Chihuahua launched in January 2021 within the Cosmos ecosystem, steadily growing its community of developers and users. The Chihuahua community has worked on multiple on-chain proposals, including updating the maximum number of validators and decentralizing the validator prize pool. In February 2022, the community announced the successful completion of the first phase of their mainnet upgrade, which involved upgrading to the latest version of the Cosmos SDK. This upgrade introduced new features and improvements, including support for the IBC protocol and the CosmWasm virtual machine.
